Synopsis
Hymn of Death (사의찬미, 2018), Season 1 — a six-episode Korean melodrama you can watch online on iFILM. Set in the 1920s under Japanese colonial rule, it follows married playwright Kim U-jin, who dreams of staging new Korean plays, and Yun Sim-deok, a young soprano he meets while studying abroad.
Sim-deok wants to know why he would risk so much under occupation, so she joins his theater troupe on a trip to his family home in Mokpo, where an unwelcome truth waits. The bond deepens anyway. He resolves to live for his writing and for her; she signs a recording contract. Based on a true story, these six episodes trace a love that had no room in its own era.
