Last Resort (Season 1)

The crew of the Colorado receives orders to strike Pakistan through an emergency channel reserved for situations where the continental United States is itself under attack. Captain Marcus Chaplin demands confirmation. Within minutes, the sub takes fire from a US destroyer and is declared a rogue enemy of the state. Chaplin and his XO Sam Kendal run the damaged boat to a small NATO island — cut off, outgunned, and accused of treason by the country they served.

The series ran thirteen episodes before cancellation. Martin Campbell, who directed Casino Royale, shot the pilot. Braugher carries the moral argument of the show almost entirely on his own, and the drama is at its strongest when it stays with the crew's impossible position rather than the parallel political maneuvering in Washington.
