Synopsis
How to Be a Man (2013) — a dark comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Chadd Harbold. Former stand-up comedian Mark McCarthy (Gavin McInnes) receives a terminal cancer diagnosis and responds the only way he knows how: by hiring a young, impressionable cameraman (Liam Aiken) to shoot a series of lessons on masculinity for the son he'll never get to raise.
The lessons are crude, frequently unhinged, and delivered with the absolute certainty of someone who has run out of reasons to filter himself. Mark isn't auditioning for father of the year. He's trying to leave something real in the time he has left.
McInnes, who co-founded Vice magazine, wrote the script for himself, and the film carries that lived-in looseness — deadpan where you expect sincerity, oddly sincere where you expect a punchline. Megan Neuringer rounds out the small cast. Stream How to Be a Man online on iFILM.
