Two immensely powerful creatures are about to collide in a fight that could level half the skyline. Ash, Pikachu and the gang throw themselves into the middle, not to win but to reach both sides. Director Kunihiko Yuyama builds the whole thing around one quiet idea: even an engineered creature deserves a home and misses its own kind.

There's plenty of spectacle here — rooftop chases, mass battles, Genesect's signature blinding speed. What holds it together, though, is the thread of loneliness and belonging.
