Synopsis
The Invisibles (Die Unsichtbaren, 2017) is a German drama-documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Claus Räfle. Around seven thousand Jews stayed in Berlin when the deportations began. About seventeen hundred survived to see the end of the war.
Four of them appear on camera today, in their nineties, recounting what it actually took. Their testimony is cut together with dramatised sequences starring Max Mauff, Alice Dwyer, Ruby O. Fee and Aaron Altaras as the young people living through 1943–1945. A new identity every few weeks, a new address before the last one got dangerous. The film builds its case through accumulation, not spectacle.
