Synopsis
Holby City (1999), Season 1 is the BBC medical drama you can watch online on iFILM — nine episodes set on the surgical and cardiac wards of the fictional Holby hospital.
It opens under pressure: surgeons Anton Meyer and Nick Jordan have one donor heart and two patients who need it. From there the first season stacks up the hard calls. A new-drug trial triggers a dangerous reaction, and a nurse must decide whether to stay quiet; Nick keeps blurring the line between theatre and his own affairs; and Meyer clashes again and again with consultant Muriel McKendrick over how a case should be handled. A two-part finale leaves one patient suspended between life and death.
This is the spin-off of Casualty, and its debut run is deliberately measured — built on professional friction and character rather than melodrama. Season 1 suits viewers who like their hospital drama unhurried. Stream Holby City Season 1 online on iFILM.
