Synopsis
The Playlist (2022), Season 1 — a Swedish Netflix drama, six episodes, watch online on iFILM. This is Spotify's origin story, told from six angles that don't always agree with each other.
Each episode hands the lens to a different person who lived through the launch: Daniel Ek turning piracy into a legal product; a music label head realizing too late that fighting piracy only feeds it; a young lawyer who walked away from a prestigious firm for a start-up with uncertain odds; a gifted programmer who shared Daniel's vision of open access; co-founder Martin Lorentzon bankrolling the chaos for five years; and musician Bobbi T, who takes the company to a congressional hearing and argues that "free" music costs someone plenty. Six depositions on the same events — none of them the whole truth.
