Borderland

Borderland (2007) is an American horror film directed by Zev Berman, available to watch online on iFILM. The 105-minute film is rooted in actual events: in the late 1980s, a Mexican drug trafficker ran a cult that murdered several people near the US-Mexico border, including American students who had crossed over for spring break.

Three college friends — Phil, Ed, and Henry — drive into Mexico looking for a cheap, uncomplicated week of drinking. When one of them is taken captive by a cartel that doubles as a satanic cult actively hunting for sacrificial victims, the other two have to decide how far they'll go to get him back. Brian Presley and Rider Strong play the friends on the outside; Sean Astin appears in a supporting role.

What separates this from standard slasher territory is the pacing — Berman builds dread methodically before the violence arrives, and the knowledge that the cult actually existed adds a layer that pure fiction can't manufacture. Stream Borderland (2007) online on iFILM.
