Under the Hood

Under the Hood (2009) is a 38-minute mockumentary you can watch online on iFILM, released alongside Zack Snyder's Watchmen. Framed as a vintage TV talk show, it adapts Hollis Mason's in-universe memoir — his firsthand account of how the Minutemen, the 1940s predecessor group to the Watchmen, formed and fell apart.

Steven McHattie plays the older Hollis; Carla Gugino and Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprise their roles as Sally Jupiter and The Comedian. Under 40 minutes, but it fills in history the film only gestures at. Essential viewing for anyone who read Alan Moore's graphic novel; a puzzling standalone for everyone else.
