Synopsis
The Goldman Case (Le procès Goldman, 2023) is a French courtroom drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Cédric Kahn. Arieh Worthalter plays Pierre Goldman — son of Polish-Jewish emigrants, self-described left-wing revolutionary, and a man already in prison — as his second trial opens in November 1975. He is charged with several armed robberies and the killing of two pharmacists.
Goldman isn't simply defending himself; he is running a parallel prosecution from the defendant's seat. He interrupts the state's witnesses, dismantles each charge point by point, admits to the robberies, and flatly denies the murders. His logic is stated once and not repeated: he is innocent because he is innocent. The trial becomes less a search for facts than a collision between the legal apparatus and one man who refuses to let it work on its own terms.
Kahn keeps the film almost entirely inside the courtroom, no flashbacks, no softening context — just the arguments as they happened. It took home the César for Best Film at the 2024 ceremony. Stream The Goldman Case online on iFILM.
