Synopsis
Skinamarink (2023) is a Canadian experimental horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Kyle Edward Ball shot it in his childhood home for around $15,000, uploaded it online, and watched it go viral before its theatrical release — which tells you something about the kind of dread it produces. Two young children wake in the night: their father is gone, and every door and window in the house has disappeared.
Ball replaces conventional plot with sustained disorientation. Ninety-minute stretches of grainy low angles, static hallways, cartoons playing on a television no one is watching, and children's voices barely above a whisper. There is no monster reveal, no jump-cut payoff. The house itself becomes the threat, and the film holds that feeling without flinching or explaining it.
For viewers who measure horror in atmosphere rather than body count, this delivers something most big-budget entries in the genre simply can't — genuine unease that lingers. Stream Skinamarink (2023) online on iFILM.
