Synopsis
Richard Pryor: Here and Now (1983) is a stand-up concert film you can watch online on iFILM, shot live at New Orleans' Saenger Theatre — and directed by Pryor himself.
Three years after a near-fatal accident nearly ended his career, Pryor walks out on stage with nothing softened: still fast, still raw, still going straight at race, addiction, and the texture of being Black in America. Comedian Paul Mooney is also on hand. This is a set built out of survived experience, not polished material.
Here and Now is the last of three consecutive concert films Pryor put on screen — following Live in Concert (1979) and Live on the Sunset Strip (1982). All three work as time capsules; this one has the most personal stakes. Watch Richard Pryor: Here and Now (1983) online on iFILM.
