"Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future" (1987) is a Canadian-American sci-fi action series you can watch online on iFILM. The setup is grim: humanity lost the Metal Wars, and a machine overlord called Lord Dread now runs what remains of Earth.

Captain Jonathan Power leads a five-person resistance cell in powered exoskeleton armor his father designed — the only technology that holds its own against Dread's robots. Twenty-two episodes aired in 1987–88, blending live action with early computer-generated animation. For a show aimed at children, the tone landed somewhere darker than the format usually allows: named characters died, storylines carried real weight, and the season finale left no one saved.
