The Interns (Interny, 2010) is a Russian medical sitcom you can watch online on iFILM, following four fresh graduates who barely know how to treat a patient but never fail to cause chaos. Watching over them — and tormenting them for sport — is Dr. Andrei Bykov, head of the therapy ward and the meanest mentor in television.

Ivan Okhlobystin owns the show as Bykov: sarcastic, ruthless, secretly brilliant, and happiest when his interns are sweating. Around him are the vain Lobanov, the polite American Phil Richards, the perpetually flustered Levin, and Varya, the lone woman on the team played by Kristina Asmus. A running feud between Bykov and head doctor Kupitman keeps the hospital halls loud.

The series ran for seven seasons and became one of the most quoted Russian comedies of its era, with Bykov's put-downs passing into everyday slang. The humor is blunt and often lands below the belt, yet under the insults there's real warmth and a story about growing up on the job.
