Synopsis
The Boy's Word: Blood on the Asphalt (2023), Season 1 is an eight-episode Russian crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. It is set in the dying days of the USSR, where perestroika has unsettled every old rule and teenagers carve the city into courtyards ruled by their own code, where a given word outweighs the law.
Andrei, a shy music-school kid, latches onto a street crew and suddenly fears no bully. From there the road only goes down. Vova, nicknamed Adidas, comes home from the army with ambitions far bigger than yard scraps. Marat drags Andrei deeper into the gang, the first brawl turns into the first blood, and then payback arrives — and stepping off this path halfway through stops being an option. By the finale each boy has to choose: family or the crew, a quiet life or a promise that cannot be unsaid.
Directed by Zhora Kryzhovnikov, the show became the talk of the season — built on its eighties texture, the Tatar slang of Kazan's gangs, and strong turns from Ivan Yankovsky, Ruzil Minekaev and young Leon Kemstach.
