Synopsis
The Durrells (2016) is a British family comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. England, 1935. Newly widowed Louisa Durrell is left with four children, a stack of unpaid bills and the feeling that life has quietly fallen apart. Her fix is a wild one: sell up and move the whole family to the Greek island of Corfu.
The money problems follow them, but now they come with a crumbling house, no electricity, warm sea and lazy Mediterranean sun. Eldest son Larry wants to be a writer and keeps dragging bohemian guests home. Leslie is obsessed with guns, Margo is chasing romance, and young Gerry fills the place with animals — owls, a pelican, anything that breathes. Louisa, played by Keeley Hawes, somehow has to hold it all together without losing herself.
The show is drawn from naturalist Gerald Durrell's autobiographical Corfu trilogy — Gerry himself, grown into a writer years later. Across four seasons (2016–2019) it became one of the warmest British comfort series of its decade: golden light, gentle humor, and a family you root for in spite of every flaw. Perfect when you want something kind, with no cynicism and no blood. Josh O'Connor, later Prince Charles in The Crown, plays Larry here.
