Synopsis
Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong (2016) is Emily Ting's intimate romance, an easy one to watch online on iFILM. Ruby, a toy designer from Los Angeles, lands in Hong Kong for the first time on business, gets stranded in a city she can't read, and bumps into Josh — an American expat who long ago made the place home.
From there the film is mostly one long walk. Neon streets, ferries, street food, and talk that wanders across everything: home, choices, the chances that slipped past. The spark is immediate, except each of them is out of sync — wrong place, wrong stretch of life. Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg play it in low key, no melodrama, the two drifting close and then pulling back the way people do when they're scared to admit the obvious. The story splits in two, and the second meeting shows how much time has quietly rearranged.
Ting works in the spirit of Before Sunrise, only Vienna is swapped for a humid, multilingual Hong Kong that earns its own billing in the cast. Seventy-eight minutes of conversation with no effects and no big twists. It lands for anyone who likes quiet love stories about meeting the right person at the wrong time.
