Synopsis
Night Will Fall (2014) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by André Singer, it reconstructs the story of footage that two governments decided the world wasn't ready to see.
In 1944 and 1945, camera crews attached to Allied forces recorded what they found as they moved through camps across liberated Europe. Sidney Bernstein, working at Britain's Ministry of Information, assembled that material into a formal record — with Alfred Hitchcock as creative consultant and Richard Dimbleby's BBC dispatches from Bergen-Belsen woven in as testimony. The finished cut was approved, then shelved. The reels sat in the Imperial War Museum for seventy years. In 2014, museum restorers completed the film and released it under its original title, with Helena Bonham Carter narrating the frame documentary. A portrait of chosen forgetting — and of the cameramen and archivists who refused to let the evidence quietly disappear. Stream Night Will Fall (2014) online on iFILM.
