Synopsis
Season 4 of One Foot in the Grave (1990) is six 1993 episodes you can watch online on iFILM — the BBC black comedy about Victor Meldrew, a retiree who attracts catastrophe even with nothing to do.
This run leans more toward Margaret. Thirty-four years beside Victor finally catch up with her in the shape of nervous exhaustion, and she gets no peace to recover from it — there's a gorilla suit, fresh feuds over the fence, the usual chaos. Victor comes back from holiday with badly sunburnt feet, then finds a streetlamp installed practically inside his bedroom, while an old acquaintance reminds Margaret her life could have gone another way. Called up for jury service, Victor is left on standby and stuck indoors all day, slowly going spare with boredom. Each episode is another small humiliation met with that famous outrage.
David Renwick keeps the balance between surreal gags and the bitter realism of married life, and Wilson and Annette Crosbie play like one weary organism by now. This season treats Margaret more gently, which makes it warmer. Stream One Foot in the Grave Season 4 online on iFILM.

S4·E1The Pit and the Pendulum
Victor is employing a workman in the garden, although he never seems to do any work. On the other side of the fence, Patrick has acquired a pet daschund called Denzil.
S4·E2Descent into the Maelstrom
Margaret falls ill to nervous exhaustion that has been building up over the past 34 years. She has little chance for peace and quiet in which to recuperate, especially with Victor's problems with gorilla suits and the waste disposal system. She is however cheered by a visit from an old friend.
S4·E3Hearts of Darkness
During a trip to the countryside with Mrs Warboys and Mr Swainey, the Meldrews manage to get lost. Victor leaves the others to try to find help.
S4·E4Warm Champagne
Victor returns from holiday with sunburnt feet. His mood doesn't improve, thanks to rows with the neighbours and the addition of a streetlamp to his bedroom furniture. This gives Margaret a dilemma when she is contacted by Ben, a pleasant man who she met on holiday.
S4·E5The Trial
Victor has been selected for jury service. He hasn't been required in court yet, but he is on call so he is stuck in the house all day and must somehow beat his boredom.
S4·E6Secret of the Seven Sorcerers
Victor is preparing for a meeting of his magicians' club. He now has a job as a lollipop man, but is being bothered by the fire brigade due to hoax calls. Patrick and Pippa are due to visit the Meldrews' for a reconciliation meal, but Patrick isn't looking forward to the experience.
