To make amends, Xie Lian is sent back down to exorcise spirits and earn merit one good deed at a time. Down there a mysterious demon takes an interest in him — an interest that feels anything but accidental. The deeper the prince digs into mortal affairs, the more the dark secrets of the gods themselves start to surface.

Adapted from the novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, whose books command a massive following in China, the series leans on watercolor backgrounds and a slow, almost meditative pace under director Li Haolin.
