Synopsis
Patriot (2020) is a Russian sitcom you can watch online on iFILM. Fresh out of his army service, Sanya Kuchin comes home to his small town and tries to settle into peaceful civilian life. He lands a job as a night guard at a corner shop called "Mechta," sets out to win back his old classmate, and single-handedly declares war on the local sloppiness.
The trouble is that civilian life doesn't run by a rulebook. Where Sanya sees disorder and demands discipline, everyone else just sees an oddball with military habits. His bosses, neighbors, shop clerks and random passersby greet his initiatives with a collective shrug, while he stubbornly digs in. Anton Zhizhin plays Kuchin, with Vladimir Sychev, Anastasia Talyzina and Nikita Tarasov alongside.
Directed by Nikolai Burlak, the humor leans on familiar small-town Russian types and the clash between army bluntness and everyday apathy. It's an easygoing situational comedy with no big ambitions — the kind of thing you put on in the evening to unwind. Stream Patriot (2020) online on iFILM.
