Synopsis
"A Lesson in Love" (En lektion i kärlek, 1954) — watch online on iFILM, Ingmar Bergman's dry, rarely-seen marital comedy. Eva Dahlbeck and Gunnar Björnstrand star as a couple unraveling after fifteen years together.
David is a physician who strays; Marianne has stopped waiting for him. Both are close to moving on when chance seats them on the same Copenhagen-bound train. What begins as farce — competing jealousies, old grievances back on the table — gradually becomes more honest than either of them intended. Bergman the ironist handles lighter material here, but the questions underneath are the same ones he'd return to for the rest of his career.
