Synopsis
It's Okay to Not Be Okay (2020), Season 1 — watch all 16 episodes online on iFILM. South Korea's tvN romantic drama, also available on Netflix, centers on three people bonded by wounds they never learned to name.
Moon Gang-tae (Kim Soo-hyun) works nights in a psychiatric ward. Every hour he isn't there goes to his older brother Sang-tae, who has autism and an extraordinary talent for drawing — which means Gang-tae stopped having a life of his own a long time ago. Ko Mun-yeong (Seo Ye-ji) writes fairy tales for children. She finds people difficult and doesn't try very hard to hide it. They meet at Gang-tae's hospital, she follows him when he transfers, and before long the three of them are sharing a house none of them planned for. As they circle each other, the pieces of their connected histories begin to surface: what happened to the brothers' mother, where Mun-yeong's mother disappeared to, and what Sang-tae has been drawing in secret.
Every episode takes its title from a fairy tale, and the show earns that structure — Mun-yeong's stories-within-the-story act as a sideways mirror for the main plot. It's a gentler, stranger approach than most Korean dramas attempt. Stream It's Okay to Not Be Okay Season 1 online on iFILM.
