Synopsis
Wounded Birds (Yaralı Kuşlar, 2019) is a Turkish drama series you can watch online on iFILM. Meryem and her adopted younger brother Ömer lose their mother and are left with a stepfather who treats them as little more than property. They run — all the way to Istanbul, where they carve out a quiet life on their own terms.
It holds, until the stepfather is released from prison. He finds them, and this time he uses Ömer as leverage. Meryem fights to keep her brother safe while also crossing paths with Levent, a man weighted down by his own grief who has largely stopped trying. Two people with nothing left to lose, slowly finding reasons to keep going.
The show sits squarely in the Turkish family drama tradition but doesn't soften its premise — the violence in Meryem's backstory is treated with more weight than the genre usually allows.
