A Virtuous Business (Season 1)

A Virtuous Business (2024) is a South Korean drama-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Set in rural Jeolla Province in 1992, the series follows four women who begin selling adult products door-to-door — in an era when the word "sex" was barely spoken aloud and a woman still working past thirty-five was considered a curiosity rather than a professional.

Kim So-yeon, Yeon Woo-jin, Kim Sung-ryung and Kim Sun-young play women who never planned to become salespeople. Each arrived at this through a different kind of dead end: poverty, a suffocating marriage, the weight of others' expectations. Director Jo Woong adapted the 2016 British series Brief Encounters and rebuilt it inside the deeply conservative Korean countryside of the 1990s.
