Synopsis
The Bachelor (1999) is a romantic comedy you can watch online on iFILM, starring Chris O'Donnell and Renée Zellweger. Jimmie Shannon has been dating Anne for years but treats the word "marriage" like a bad omen. Then his grandfather dies and leaves a very specific will.
The terms: one hundred million dollars, but only if Jimmie is married by 6:05 pm on his thirtieth birthday — which is tomorrow. Anne is out of town and furious after a botched proposal, so Jimmie starts speed-dialling every ex-girlfriend he can find. Director Gary Sinyor builds to a crowd-pleasing set piece in which hundreds of women in wedding dresses descend on San Francisco, which lands better than it has any right to.
Ed Asner, Peter Ustinov, Mariah Carey, Sarah Silverman, and Brooke Shields all appear in supporting roles. The film is cheerfully lightweight and knows it — if you're after a mid-budget 1990s rom-com with a strong supporting cast and one genuinely funny third act, this fits the bill.
