The Island of Dr. Moreau
A tropical paradise, untouched by man... where a bizarre civilization exists.
Synopsis
The Island of Dr. Moreau (1977) is a science-fiction horror adventure you can watch online on iFILM, drawn from H.G. Wells' 1896 novel. A shipwrecked sailor washes up on a remote Pacific island and stumbles into the private kingdom of a doctor who has decided to play creator.
Andrew Braddock reaches dry land only to find it ruled by the soft-spoken, chilling Moreau. Through surgery the doctor drags animals across the line into something almost human — beasts that walk upright, speak, and recite a Law they are terrified to break. Burt Lancaster gives Moreau a calm that's far scarier than any rage. Michael York plays the stranger who realizes too late where he's landed, and Barbara Carrera is Maria, a woman with a secret of her own.
Director Don Taylor trades spectacle for slow-building dread, leaning on dense jungle sets and creature makeup that genuinely unsettled audiences of the day. This is the Moreau story as a moral trap rather than a monster parade. Old-school sci-fi fans who like a hard question buried in the fright will find plenty here.
