Synopsis
Death of a Corrupt Man (Mort d'un pourri, 1977) is a French crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Georges Lautner and led by Alain Delon. One night, deputy Philippe Dubaye wakes his old friend Xavier Maréchal with a confession: he has just shot Serrano, a racketeer with deep political ties.
Serrano kept a notebook of dirt on bankers, ministers and fixers — and now everyone wants it. Maréchal agrees to cover for his friend, then finds himself alone against the police, the secret services and the powerful men named in those pages. He trusts no institution and plays his own hand while the hunters slowly back him into a corner. Ornella Muti, Stéphane Audran, Mireille Darc and a chilling Klaus Kinski round out the cast.
Lautner turns this into a cold, cynical political thriller where an honest man pays for other people's filth. Delon plays no hero here — just a tired lone wolf who answers to no one, and that restraint is the film's best move. Stream Death of a Corrupt Man (1977) online on iFILM.
