Synopsis
Time Masters (Les maîtres du temps, 1982) is a French animated science-fiction feature you can watch online on iFILM. Seven-year-old Piel is left alone on the desert planet Perdide after his father dies fighting off a swarm of giant hornets. The dying man's distress call reaches family friend Jaffar, who sets course across space immediately — picking up a renegade prince, his fiancée, and the nomad Silbad along the way.
The film's visual design is the work of Jean Giraud, the French comics artist known as Moebius, whose science-fiction imagery influenced a generation of filmmakers and illustrators. Director René Laloux had already claimed the Grand Prix at Cannes in 1973 with Fantastic Planet — Time Masters is a quieter companion piece, a children's rescue story that opens up into something genuinely strange by the end.
