Synopsis
Talcum Powder (Borotalco, 1982) is an Italian comedy you can watch online on iFILM, written, directed and starring Carlo Verdone. Sergio is a timid Rome-based salesman who cannot close a deal, cannot commit to his long-term girlfriend Rossella, and generally cannot do much at all. His more driven colleague Nadia, played by Eleonora Giorgi, runs rings around him without trying.
Things take a turn when the two of them meet Manuel Fantoni — a charming impostor who talks Sergio into housesitting his apartment, then disappears and leaves him holding the consequences. Christian De Sica rounds out the cast as part of the chaos Fantoni sets in motion. Verdone, already known for sharp character comedy, made something warmer here than his usual fare — the farce is rooted in recognizable anxiety about adult life rather than pure slapstick, which is what kept it on Italian television schedules for decades.
