Synopsis
The Smurfs and the Magic Flute (1975) is the animated feature you can watch online on iFILM — the first time Peyo's little blue characters carried a film of their own, drawn straight from his Belgian comic books.
A flute with six holes makes anyone who hears it dance until they drop. When a sly swindler steals the instrument and turns its power to mischief, young page Johan and the boastful little Pirlouit set off for the village of the Smurfs, the only ones who know how to craft such a flute. What follows is seventy-two minutes of chases, songs and gentle medieval chaos.
Co-directed by Eddie Lateste and Peyo himself, the film keeps the spirit of the original comics intact. It's hand-drawn, pre-digital storytelling — soft, unhurried, with none of the wink-at-the-camera humor of modern reboots.
