Lieutenant Jim Brannigan does things with his fists and his .38, not by the book. At buttoned-up Scotland Yard his methods cause open alarm: Commander Swann, played by Richard Attenborough, tries to keep the American inside British procedure while Brannigan turns the city upside down. Meanwhile a hired killer is stalking him. Expect car chases along the Thames, a brawling pub fight, and plenty of gunfire.
