Synopsis

Tomoko Kuroki spent middle school mastering dating sims and built a quiet certainty that high school would finally make her popular. A few weeks into freshman year, she has spoken to almost no one.
Each episode follows a new plan: study the popular girls, rehearse conversations, consult magazines. Each plan collapses in a different direction. Her only consistent social contact is her younger brother Tomoki, who she routinely mortifies. Voice actress Izumi Kitta delivers Tomoko's internal monologue with a pitch-perfect balance of delusion and desperation — that performance is what makes the comedy land rather than just sting.
