Rosalie

Rosalie (2024), a period drama directed by Stéphanie Di Giusto, is available to watch online on iFILM. Rural France, 1870s. Rosalie, played by Nadia Tereshkevich, was born with hypertrichosis — a face and body covered in hair — and has spent her entire adult life shaving in secret before anyone can see.

Her father arranges her marriage to Abel (Benoît Magimel), a bar owner drowning in debt who married for the dowry and expected nothing out of the ordinary. He learns the truth on their wedding night. Di Giusto gives Magimel room to show what that discovery actually does to a man — not one moment of shock but a slow dismantling of everything he thought he was owed.

What keeps this from becoming a parable is Tereshkevich's performance: Rosalie's eventual decision to stop hiding reads as an act of will, not of desperation. Benjamin Biolay and Guillaume Gouix round out a carefully chosen cast. Stream Rosalie (2024) on iFILM.
