Synopsis
What Have They Done to Your Daughters? (La polizia chiede aiuto, 1974) is an Italian giallo thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Director Massimo Dallamano takes a case of missing girls and turns it into a cold police procedural that keeps edging into horror.
A fifteen-year-old schoolgirl is found hanged in the attic of an empty Roman house. It reads as suicide until detectives hit a far uglier truth: a hidden ring was luring underage girls, and its threads run up to respectable men in the city. Inspector Silvestri (Claudio Cassinelli) and assistant prosecutor Vittoria Stori (Giovanna Ralli) work the case together. The closer they get to names, the faster witnesses go quiet — a figure in a motorcycle helmet, cleaver in hand, silences anyone who might talk.
This is that rare crossbreed of giallo and poliziottesco: a gloved-killer mystery wired into a grim drama about the law's helplessness against money. Dallamano shoots it dry and unfussy, which only makes the ending hit harder. Mario Adorf and Farley Granger round out the cast. Dark stuff, not for the squeamish, but essential viewing for fans of 1970s Italian thrillers. Stream What Have They Done to Your Daughters? (1974) online on iFILM.
