Init!ation

Init!ation (2021) is an American slasher with a detective streak that you can watch online on iFILM. Pledge week at Whiton University starts as carefree partying and curdles into something deadly when a star athlete is found murdered, and that first killing is only the beginning of a bloody trail.

Student Ellery (Lindsay LaVanchy, who also co-wrote the script) races to crack the case before the killer reaches the next victim. Her lead is an odd recurring symbol — a lone exclamation mark dropped in comment threads — and the meaning hiding behind it is far nastier than it looks. The investigation peels back the campus underside: drunken parties, buried scandals, secret group chats, and the closed-ranks loyalty of Greek life, where reputation matters more than anyone's safety.

Director John Berardo plays the mask-and-knife formula straight, but threads in something sharper about online harassment and the assaults people would rather not name.
