Synopsis
The Wasp Woman (1959) is Roger Corman's black-and-white creature feature, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Sixty-three minutes of cheap, fast, gleefully unhinged drive-in horror.
Janice Starlin built a cosmetics empire on her own face, and now her wrinkles are killing the brand. A strange scientist offers a way out: a youth serum drawn from the royal jelly of wasps. Janice starts injecting herself in secret, skipping the careful doses to rush the results. Her skin really does shed years. But something with mandibles and an appetite wakes up in her after dark, and the people around the office begin to vanish. Susan Cabot stars as Janice, with Anthony Eisley and Barboura Morris alongside.
The film was shot for pennies in a matter of days, and it shows in every frame, which is exactly the charm. Corman wins on nerve rather than money: there's a nasty little parable about the cult of youth buried under the rubber bug suit. Perfect for fans of vintage B-movie horror.
