Synopsis
Fire Down Below (1997) is an American action thriller starring Steven Seagal that you can watch online on iFILM. EPA undercover agent Jack Taggart arrives in a small Appalachian town in eastern Kentucky posing as a Christian relief worker and handyman. His actual job: figure out what happened to the federal inspectors who went in before him — including a friend who didn't come back.
The answer involves tons of toxic chemical waste buried beneath the mountains and a local industrial kingpin (Kris Kristofferson) who's bought the county sheriff, the politicians, and most of the breathing air between them. Taggart works alone, earns the locals' grudging trust, and eventually stops being quiet about it. Harry Dean Stanton and Levon Helm fill out the supporting cast with the kind of authentic Appalachian texture the film wouldn't have without them.
Director Félix Alcalá keeps it functional — this is a 90s action movie with a light environmental subplot, not a message film. Seagal plays guitar in a bar scene with evident enjoyment. That about sets the tone. Stream Fire Down Below online on iFILM.
