Synopsis
Eating Out (2004) is an American romantic comedy from writer-director Q. Allan Brocka that you can watch online on iFILM. The whole thing turns on one ridiculous lie.
Caleb falls for Gwen, but Gwen only goes for gay men — every boyfriend she's had was secretly into her roommate Marc. So Caleb pretends to be gay and lets himself get set up on a date with Marc, hoping it brings him closer to her. From there it's a tangle of people crushing on the wrong person, fixable only by an honesty nobody is willing to offer.
This shoestring indie kicked off a whole franchise of sequels in the years that followed. The humor is raunchy and won't be for everyone, but there's no preachiness to it — it was one of the early comedies to let its gay characters write the jokes instead of being them. Easy, eighty-odd minutes of laughs when you want comedy without the heavy stuff. Stream Eating Out (2004) online on iFILM.
