Synopsis
The Last Descent (2016) is an American drama you can watch online on iFILM, drawn from a real 2009 tragedy in the Utah backcountry. Dr. John Jones goes caving with his brother in Nutty Putty Cave and ends up wedged upside down in a passage barely wider than a chimney flue.
Above ground, more than a hundred rescuers work through the night to free him. Trapped in the dark, John replays his own life — meeting his wife, his kids, the ordinary days that suddenly matter most. Chadwick Hopson plays him not as an action hero but as a regular guy left with nothing but memory and time.
Director Isaac Halasima keeps it small and quiet, made with the cooperation of Jones' family, so the film feels less like a horror ordeal and more like a long goodbye. If you want a drama about the weight of an ordinary life rather than spectacle, this one lands. Stream The Last Descent online on iFILM.
