Synopsis
Free Jimmy (Slipp Jimmy fri, 2006) is a Norwegian adult animated comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Christopher Nielsen drew a pitch-black cartoon that is emphatically not for kids: circus, hard drugs, and an elephant hooked on a daily fix.
The star of a shabby travelling circus is Jimmy the elephant, kept docile by four burnt-out bikers who feed him a cocktail of narcotics. The night before the big premiere, Jimmy bolts before his next dose. What follows is a deranged chase across snowbound Norway as the bikers race to catch him before withdrawal hits — and picture withdrawal in an elephant. Half the country joins the hunt: vegan activists out to save him, Scottish trophy hunters who want his head on a wall, and the Sami mafia, billed as the nastiest men in the north. Jimmy's one hope is a mellow moose he meets along the way.
Crude, cynical and hand-drawn, this is satire with swearing, drugs and blood rather than family animation, steeped in Scandinavian underground humor.
