About

Synopsis

The Wizard of Gore (1970) is a blood-drenched piece of trash-horror you can watch online on iFILM. Montag the Magnificent saws volunteers in half, drives spikes through their skulls and runs them through with swords — then takes a bow as the victims rise unharmed.

The catch: his illusions are too real. Hours after each show, the women from the audience drop dead from the exact wounds that looked faked on stage. Talk-show host Sherry and her boyfriend Jack start digging and run straight into the hypnotic hold the old man keeps over his crowd. Who is controlling whose mind becomes the whole game.

Behind this cheap, blood-soaked lunacy is Herschell Gordon Lewis, the man critics dubbed the godfather of splatter — he basically invented the on-screen gut-spilling close-up back in the sixties. The budget is pocket change, the gore is butcher-shop offal, the acting barely holds together, and that is exactly why trash-horror fans treasure it. Polished-scare people should look elsewhere; grindhouse collectors will grin. Stream The Wizard of Gore (1970) online on iFILM.
