Synopsis
Deep Water (2006) — watch online on iFILM — is a British documentary from directors Jerry Rothwell and Louise Osmond, narrated by Tilda Swinton. It follows Donald Crowhurst, an English electronics salesman who entered the 1968 Golden Globe Race — a contest demanding that competitors circle the globe solo and without a single stop.
His vessel was barely ready. His sailing record was thin. The money ran out before he cleared harbour. He went anyway — and then began falsifying his logbook, radioing false coordinates home while the rest of the fleet pushed on. Archive footage, his own recorded voice, and testimony from his widow and son build toward something harder than a disaster film: a reckoning with what happens when a man commits to a lie he cannot survive.
