Synopsis
Zorro (1975) is an adventure romp from director Duccio Tessari, starring Alain Delon, that you can watch online on iFILM. After a friend headed for the governor's seat is gunned down in front of him, Diego swears to avenge the death.
Diego takes the dead man's place and rides into Nueva Aragon posing as a timid, spineless governor, so the brutal Colonel Huerta (Stanley Baker) won't treat him as a threat. By night he throws on the black cape, tugs down the hat, hides his face behind a mask and becomes Zorro — taunting soldiers in the plazas, freeing chained prisoners, carving his "Z" into the air. A monk named Francisco and the noblewoman Hortensia stand with him.
Delon plays it light and tongue-in-cheek, and the picture sits somewhere between a rowdy western and a swashbuckling comedy. The title song "Zorro Is Back" by the duo Oliver Onions is welded to this version — people still know it from the first few bars. Of all the takes on the masked avenger, this may be the most fondly remembered. Stream Zorro online on iFILM.
