Selfie (2020) is a French satirical comedy you can watch online on iFILM. It runs as five short stories, and every one of them watches a smartphone quietly take over an ordinary life — a teenager hooked on likes, a dad swallowed by a fitness app, a woman falling for the voice of her GPS.

Five directors split the writing, among them Thomas Bidegain and Marc Fitoussi, with Blanche Gardin, Max Boublil, Manu Payet and Elsa Zylberstein in front of the camera. The comedy bites: it laughs less at the gadgets than at how readily we hand them the final word. Good pick if you like French ensemble comedy with a sour aftertaste.
