Synopsis
Dying Breed (2008) is an Australian horror film from Jody Dwyer you can watch online on iFILM. A hunt for an extinct animal in the Tasmanian bush turns up something far worse.
Four enthusiasts push deep into remote Tasmanian forest to prove the thylacine, long declared extinct, is still out there. Instead of a rare predator, they stumble onto the descendants of Alexander Pearce — a 19th-century convict nicknamed "The Pieman," hanged for eating his fellow escapees. The family held onto the ancestor's taste. The hunters become the hunted in short order.
Nathan Phillips leads, alongside Leigh Whannell, co-writer of Saw, so the film doesn't flinch from the red stuff. Dwyer leans on the claustrophobia of the wild and a real Tasmanian legend rather than cheap jump scares. A grimy, meaty survival horror for strong stomachs.
