Synopsis
City Hunter (シティーハンター, 2024) is a Japanese action film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Yuichi Sato brings Tsukasa Hojo's beloved manga to live action, with Ryohei Suzuki in the lead. His Ryo Saeba is Shinjuku's deadliest gun-for-hire and a hopeless womanizer in equal measure.
When his partner is murdered, Ryo reluctantly teams up with the man's sister, Kaori, to dig into the killing. The trail drags them through Tokyo's nightlife underbelly: a missing model, a black-market drug that turns people into berserk fighters, and shootouts where the hero never misses, even mid-joke. Suzuki did much of his own stunt work and bulked up for the part, while Akira Kamiya — Ryo's voice from the anime — returns to dub him here.
This is that rare manga adaptation unembarrassed by its source: the signature horndog gags, Kaori's giant hammer to the back of the skull, and genuinely well-staged action all intact.
