Waking the Dead

Several years on, Fielding is close to everything he wanted — a campaign, a new partner, a future — when he starts seeing Sarah alive. In a crowd. Through a window. Around a corner. Memory, guilt, or a woman who somehow came back? The line between obsession and reality dissolves, and he can no longer trust his own mind.

Adapted from Scott Spencer's novel, the film leans on its two leads rather than any mystery plot: Crudup and Connelly play a love that refuses to die with the body. Ed Harris and Janet McTeer appear in supporting roles. It's a quiet, mournful picture for viewers who like melodrama touched with the supernatural and no loud effects.
