Synopsis

It's 1943 in occupied Czechoslovakia. Josef and Marie Čížek — quiet, childless, unremarkable — agree to hide David Wiener, the son of Josef's former employer, in a concealed pantry behind their kitchen. Bolek Polívka plays Josef not as someone brave but as someone terrified, torn between moral instinct and the math of survival that keeps coming out wrong. Jaroslav Dušek adds a collaborator who makes things worse at every turn.
