EXIT

EXIT (2019) is a South Korean action-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Jo Jung-suk plays Yong-nam, 30, unemployed, living with his parents, and skilled at exactly one thing: rock climbing. His mother's 70th birthday party gathers the whole family at a high-rise banquet hall — and puts him face to face with Eui-joo (Yoona of Girls' Generation), the woman from his college climbing club he never worked up the nerve to tell.

Then a toxic gas attack engulfs the city. Panic, blocked exits, no signal. The only way out is up — and nobody on the roof is more useful than the guy everyone at the party spent the evening condescending to.

Director Lee Sang-geun keeps the disaster sequences genuinely tense and the comedy between the leads actually funny, which is harder than it looks. EXIT drew close to ten million admissions in South Korea that summer. Stream it online on iFILM.
